Metro traffic plan for SEA Games in place – MMDA
MANILA, Philippines – Traffic management plans for Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), Roxas Boulevard and other parts of Metro Manila are already in place ahead of the formal opening of the 30th Southeast Asian Games this weekend, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) assured Thursday.
MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago said the use of yellow lanes will be maximized and stop-and-go scheme will be implemented along EDSA.
Malls along or adjacent to EDSA have also agreed to forego weekend sales promotions to help ease traffic situation.
“Our traffic plan has been drafted months ago and we have prepared primary and secondary roads from different hotels to going to different sporting venues,” Pialago said in an interview on ABS-CBN News Channel.
Around 2,000 MMDA personnel will also be deployed during SEA Games, with the traffic authority implementing a “no day off, no absent” policy from November 30 to December 11.
