MANILA, Philippines  – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Tuesday that it would seek the help of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to locate over 100 “missing” foreign workers.

“‘Yung 118, walang datos na makita na sila ay nagtatrabaho dun sa kumpanya (There is no data to show proof that they are still working in their reported company) where they have been reported kaya ipinapasa na natin mga pangalan nila sa Bureau of Immigration (That is why we are passing the list of the names to the BI),” Bureau of Local Employment chief Dominique Tutay said in a press conference.

Tutay said most of the 6,678 unaccounted foreign workers, who are mostly Chinese, are now applying for special work permits from appropriate government agencies.
