Woman gathering seashells in Bohol resort town dies after lightning strikes her in the head

TAGBILARAN CITY—A resident of the resort town of Panglao, Bohol province was killed after she was struck by lightning in the head on Sunday, Nov. 24.

MSgt. Gregorio Perocho, of the Panglao police station, said Maria Jendeliza Monteza, 35, of the village of Poblacion in Panglao, was gathering sea shells with her husband and neighbors at another village, Danao, when lightning struck.

Several of her companions suffered electric shock but were not seriously injured.

The lightning found its mark in Monteza’s head.
