GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A businessman was injured while his wife died when two suspected hired assassins riding in tandem on a single motorcycle pumped bullets into their car Wednesday along the national highway in Tambler village here.

Senior Inspector Lauro Espida, Tambler police station chief, said Abdul Basan Nur and his wife Junainah, 26, were on their way home from the General Santos Fish Port when ambushed.

He said the couple was rushed to a nearby hospital but the wife died without receiving medication due to multiple bullet wounds.

Espida said witnesses saw two unidentified suspects aboard a red Honda XRM motorcycle tailing the couple as soon as the victims emerged from the fish port.

“But the witnesses could not provide enough description of the suspects because they covered their faces,” he said.

Espida said the incident might have something to do with the couple’s dried fish business.
