LUCENA CITY — Police arrested four alleged major suppliers of “shabu” (crystal meth) in a buy-bust operation in Tayabas City at midnight on Wednesday, police said.

Anti-illegal drugs operatives, after receiving reports from concerned citizens, collared Gilbert Ballara, Manuel Ogoc, Johnny Fernando, and Manolito Marquez Jr. after the group sold shabu to an undercover police officer in a transaction in Barangay Lacawan around 11:30 p.m.

Authorities confiscated eight plastic sachets of shabu weighing 28.3 grams and worth P157,065 in the street market at the prevailing price of P5,550 per gram.

Police tagged the suspects as some of the few remaining big-time suppliers of meth to drug users in Tayabas City. Delfin T. Mallari Jr. /lzb
