MANILA, Philippines— Senate Minority Franklin Drilon called out House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano for making “uncalled for” remarks against Vice President Leni Robredo.

“I am saddened by his statement. Such comments are totally uncalled for, especially coming from the Speaker of the House,” Drilon said in a statement.

Cayetano earlier criticized Leni Robredo for supposedly turning the government’s anti-drug campaign dubbed as “Oplan Tokhang” into “Operation All Talk.”

“I’ve been monitoring the last three days and parang (it looks like) from Oplan Tokhang, naging (it becomes) Operation All Talk,” the Speaker said over CNN Philippines.

“I guess it just so happen that Vice President Robredo is a favorite of the media or she likes media exposure,” he further said.

Instead of criticizing Robredo, Drilon urged everyone to set aside politics and just support the government’s war on drugs.

“It cannot be denied that illegal drug continues to be a problem, notwithstanding the over 5,000 deaths from the Operation Tokhang,” he said.

“The gravity of this issue on illegal drugs calls for everyone to set aside politics. In the remaining two and a half years of the administration, we should all work together to solve this problem,” he said.

Drilon noted that even Malacanang has already vowed full support for Robredo.

“We expect the allies of this administration to do no less,” added the minority leader.
