Magnitude 4.1 quake shakes Sultan Kudarat town

MANILA, Philippines — A 4.1-magnitude quake struck a town in Sultan Kudarat on Friday afternoon, state seismologists said.

Based on its initial earthquake bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor hit 16 kilometers (km) southeast of Columbio town in Sultan Kudarat at 1:38 p.m.

The temblor has a depth of 15 km and was of tectonic origin, according to government seismologists.

While Philvolcs said neither aftershocks nor significant damage may be expected from the earthquake, it was nevertheless felt at Intensity II in Kidapawan City, which establishments incurred major destruction from the 6.5-magnitude quake on October 31. /kga
