Robredo joining drug busts? ‘Go ahead, no problem,’ says NCRPO
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo may join operations of the police in Metro Manila if she wishes to do so, Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas, acting director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said Friday.
Speaking in a press briefing, Sinas said he is “happy to work” with anybody for as long as it will contribute to the success of the drug war now being waged by the government.
“If she would like to request that she join, then we assess if pwede, then why not? At least makikita niya ‘yung police in action. Wala naman kaming itinatago. Anytime sabihin ni Vice President, sama ako, then with arrangement, go ahead, no problem,” he said.

Robredo recently accepted the offer of President Rodrigo Duterte to serve as co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD), where the Philippine National Police (PNP) is a member-agency.

Sinas said the PNP also does not want deaths during drug raids, but stressed that it is “inherent” for police officers to defend themselves when suspects resist. /muf
