7,699 out of 8,245 complete first Sunday of 2019 Bar exams

MANILA, Philippines–Only 7,699 of the 8,245 law graduates have completed the first Sunday of the 2019 Bar examination at the University of Sto. Tomas.

Data provided by the Office of the Bar Confidant (OBC) showed that 8,304 law graduates actually filed their applications to take the Bar but the High Court denied the petitions of nine law graduates for various reasons leaving only 8,295 to take the exam.

However, 50 more law graduates withdrew their applications before the first Sunday examination.

The High Court said 545 were absent on the first Sunday of examination leaving 7,700 examinees to tackle the first subject which is Political and Public International Law.

Then, one graduate opted not to take the second subject in the afternoon which is Labor Law and Social Legislation.

If a law graduate fails to take any of the eight subjects in the examinations, he or she is automatically disqualified for the entire examinations.

The OBC is the office that administers the annual bar examinations for the Supreme Court.

Subjects lined up for the second day of the examinations are Civil Law in the morning and Taxation Law in the afternoon.

The third and fourth days of the examinations will be on November 17 for Mercantile Law and Criminal Law, and November 24 for Remedial Law, and Legal and Judicial Ethics and Practical Exercises.
