Soldiers honor departed heroes at Libingan ng mga Bayani

MANILA, Philippines — Soldiers paid tribute to the departed Filipino heroes and martyrs at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on the eve of Undas.

Soldiers and members of the Boys and Girls Scout of the Philippines placed 26,000 Philippine flaglets on the graves of fallen soldiers, national leaders, dignitaries, and national artists on Thursday morning.

A field mass was also offered in front of the Tomb of Unknown Soldier.

Visitors trooped to the heroes cemetery as early as 8 a.m.

Vehicles and visitors’ bags needed to be inspected at the entrance before they could enter the Heroes Cemetery.

A number of soldiers and police officers were also seen patrolling the 103-hectare hallow ground for added security.

For visitors who wish to inquire and ask for assistance, a command center was set up at the Bulwagan ng mga Bayani near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. /je
