Cop shoots wife then kills self in Palawan

MANILA, Philippines — A member of the police force shot his wife then killed himself afterward in Puerto Princesa, Palawan on Wednesday.

According to the PNP-Mimaropa Public Information Office, the suspect was identified as Police Cpl. Raymond Cacho, who was assigned to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion in Mimaropa.

Bystanders who witnessed the incident said they saw the suspect sat at the grandstand of the sports complex, just at the back of his wife Karen, in barangay San Miguel.

Cacho then stood up, pulled out a gun and shot his wife in the head. He subsequently turned the gun to himself and pulled the trigger.

Upon arrival at the scene, police investigators said that they found both Cacho and his wife dead on the stairs. Also recovered were one Berretta 9mm pistol having imprinted PNP property and four empty shells.

The motive behind the shooting has yet to be determined, police added. /jpv
