Aftershock: Magnitude 5.5 quake hits Sultan Kudarat
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.5 quake, an aftershock from the quake that hit North Cotabato minutes earlier, was reported in Sultan Kudarat on Wednesday night, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The aftershock was reported at 8:09 p.m., with the epicenter at 16 kilometers southeast of Columbio town in Sultan Kudarat.
The aftershock had a depth of five kilometers and was tectonic of origin.
The Sultan Kudarat quake happened a little over 30 minutes after the magnitude 6.3 quake in North Cotabato.
Phivolcs said damage and aftershocks were to be expected following the North Cotabato quake.
