Did You Know: 104th birth anniversary of Manuel Conde

Today, Oct. 9, is the 104th birth anniversary of National Artist for Cinema Manuel Conde.

As a director and producer, Conde was best known for his critically acclaimed works like Ibong Adarna (1941), Si Juan Tamad (1947) and Genghis Khan (1950).

Conde died in Manila on Aug. 11, 1985, and was named a national artist in 2009.

A theater at the Cultural Center of the Philippines was named in his honor.  —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
