LOOK: ‘Sea of clouds’ draws tourists to Nueva Vizcaya town

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines — A layer of clouds that has formed around the mountain summit in Dupax del Norte town in this province has been drawing tourists who are looking for scenic spots.

Visible before and during sunrise, the “sea of clouds” in Barangay Binuangan is quickly becoming a favorite hangout among couples, groups of friends and motorcycle riders.

“We’re amazed that the natural beauty of our town is now being known to tourists. By just watching the sea of clouds, it lifts our spirits and refreshes our minds. Our local officials are actually surprised with the flock of tourists,” said Erika Mae Orpia, a local rider.

Last week, rider Paps Jordan went to the site to propose marriage to his longtime girlfriend, Christine Marie Amansec, to the delight of their friends while they were surrounded by the sea of clouds.
