Bangsamoro gov’t forms committee to look into Marawi rehabilitation
COTABATO CITY –– Members of the interim Bangsamoro parliament have formed a special committee to look into the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Marawi City.
The decision to form a committee was a product of various proposals on how the parliament must take a stand on issues in the aftermath of the Marawi siege in 2017.
The special committee created under Resolution No. 122, will gather data and monitor the status of the recovery, reconstruction, and rehabilitation efforts planned and implemented for Marawi City.
The committee is also tasked with recommending actions that the Bangsamoro regional government should take.
The rehabilitation of Marawi City is supervised by the Office of the President with the Task Force Bangon Marawi at its main coordination arm.
The city’s main urban area was devastated following a five-month siege by Islamic State-linked militants that began on April 23, 2017.
