Man dies after being hit by train in Tondo

MANILA, Philippines – A man was killed after being hit and dragged by a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train in Manila early Wednesday.

According to the Jose Abad Santos Police Station 7, Florante Aguilar, 54, was about to cross the railroad tracks along Batangas St. at the PNR Compound in Tondo when the train hit him at 6:12 a.m.

Police said Aguilar was dragged by the southbound train by some 80 meters.

The victim was also reportedly an employee of the Engineering Department of the Manila City Hall.

Meanwhile, the PNR management has yet to issue a statement about the incident.  /muf
