Freed convict surrenders in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY –– A man convicted of robbery with homicide and was recently released from prison surrendered to the authorities in Nagcarlan, Laguna, police said Tuesday.

The convict, 55, sought help from municipal councilors Ronald Herradura and Ruben Albayda when he went to the police station around 9 a.m. on Monday.

Police on Tuesday said they were to turn over the freed convict to the Bureau of Corrections.

He was among thousands of heinous crime convicts, who were released through the Good Conduct Time Allowance law.

President Duterte ordered them returned to prison and gave them until Sept. 19 to turn themselves in to the
authorities. /lzb
