Drug convict freed under GCTA law surrenders in La Union

DAGUPAN CITY –– A convict from La Union province who was freed under the Good Conduct Time Allowance or GCTA law surrendered to the local police.

Jonathan Costales, 35, of Barangay Dili in Bauang town turned himself in to authorities at noon on Thursday.

He was convicted of violating the Dangerous Drugs Act and was released from the National Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa on March 20.

Costales said he was willing to be brought to the Bureau of Corrections.

Police said Costales had undergone documentation and medical examination at the Bauang Rural Center and would be turned over to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Bauang./lzb
