Minimal price hike bid for high-end Noche Buena items expected – DTI

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is expecting manufacturers of high-end Noche Buena (Christmas Eve meal) products to petition for an increase in prices by October.

“Ang nangyayari po, yung mga mahal na brand usually sila yung may mga konting paggalaw, mga 1 percent, 2 percent,” DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said on Tuesday in an interview on Radyo Inquirer 990 AM.

“Yung mga hindi mamahaling brand hindi usually yan gumagalaw kasi price sensitive sila, meaning nag-aalangan sila magtaas ng presyo dahil baka lumipat sa kalaban yung mga customers,” he added.

“Kaya maaasahan natin yung adjustment eh yung mga ganong klaseng brand, yung mga mamamahalin. Magrerequest siguro yan sa isang buwan.” /gsg
