2 motorbike riders dead in Quezon road accident
LUCENA CITY –– Two motorcycle riders were killed in a road accident in Tayabas City in Quezon province Saturday morning, police said.
Tayabas police identified the victims as Angelo Villa Juan and his back-rider Sally Elpa, both residents of Barangay (village) Ipilan in Tayabas City.
Police said the victims aboard a 175cc motorcycle were hit by a speeding car being driven by Fernando Tobias along the opposite lane of the national road in Barangay Camaysa around 8:50 a.m.
With the strong impact, the motorcycle overturned and its riders were thrown off to the pavement.
The victims died while being taken to the Tayabas Community Hospital in the city center.
Master Sergeant Carlito Bantug Jr., Tayabas police investigator, said both victims were not wearing the mandatory crash helmets for protection.
