Pedestrian killed in Quezon highway accident

LUCENA CITY, Philippines  – A 52-year-old pedestrian was killed after he was accidentally hit by a speeding passenger bus along the Maharlika Highway in Lopez town in Quezon province before midnight Friday, police said.

A report from the Quezon police headquarters said Nolasco Pangilinan was hit by the Bicol-bound AB Liner bus being driven by Rodrigo Chan, while crossing the highway in Barangay (village) Canda Ilaya at around 11:10 p.m.

The victim sustained injuries in different part of his body and was taken to Magsaysay Memorial District Hospital in the town center. Pangilinan however died on the way.

Police meanwhile arrested the bus driver who is now detained at the town police headquarters.  /muf
