MANILA, Philippines — Thirty-eight police trainees of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) were brought to a hospital in Manila on Friday due to suspected food poisoning.

In an initial statement, BOC only said the trainees were rushed to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Center in Delpan, Tondo. BOC did not describe the circumstances that led them to bring the trainees to the hospital but stressed that the incident is still under investigation.

“The Bureau is still waiting for the medical findings of the attending physician and the investigation result of the City Health Department to determine the possible cause of the incident,” read the statement from BOC spokesperson Jet Maronilla. /kga
