MRT-3 offloads 780 passengers due to glitch
MANILA, Philippines — About 780 passengers were offloaded from a southbound Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) train on Tuesday afternoon due to an electrical glitch.
The MRT-3 management said that the train’s motor encountered an electrical failure at about 1:01 p.m. and its passengers were dropped off at the Ayala station.
The train’s passengers rode the next train, which arrived 11 minutes after the incident, it added.
The electrical failure could be caused by worn-out electrical sub-components, according to the MRT-3 management.
It said it would implement remedial measures such as preventive maintenance and replacement of electrical components.
“We are sorry for the convenience,” the MRT-3 management said in a statement. /je
