Palace says Pagcor order on Pogos stays until reversed by Duterte
MANILA, Philippines—Malacañang on Monday (Aug. 19) said the order by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) to suspend permits to online casinos catering to Chinese gamblers stays until reversed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
In a briefing in Malacanang, presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said until Duterte “reverses” the Pagcor order, it “remains to be the policy.”
The Pagcor stopped accepting applications to open Philippine offshore gaming operations (Pogos) in the wake of a verbal tit-for-tat between Philippine defense officials and Chinese authorities.
