Suspicious box in Edsa-Shaw underpass halts traffic flow

MANILA, Philippines – The whole Edsa-Shaw Boulevard underpass was temporarily closed to traffic on Friday after a suspicious box was found abandoned in the area, the Eastern Police District (EPD) said.

Members of the Mandaluyong City Police’s Explosive Ordinance Division (EOD) immediately responded and conducted disruption operations of the package.

According to Mandaluyong City Police chief Col. Remegio Sedanto, disruption operations are still on-going as of posting time.

Earlier, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Spokesperson Celine Pialago said that a single lane on both northbound and southbound directions were temporarily cordoned off as police officers inspect the box. /jpv
