4 floors of building collapse, no one hurt
CEBU CITY—At least 42 workers of a business process outsourcing firm cheated death after a portion of a four-story building in this city collapsed at dawn on Monday (Aug 5).
The damaged Juanita Bldg is located beside a construction site.
In separate reports, the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said no one was hurt.
Maj. Eduard Sanchez, CCPO station 2 commander, said security guards of Juanita called up to report the incident around 2 a.m.
No one was around when the entire four floors collapsed.
Article continues after this advertisementIts neighboring and adjacent office is a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) center with 42 employees. Police said all 42 employees were able to safely evacuate.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Juanita Bldg also houses a Philippine National Bank branch, a Nephrology Center, a travel agency, among others.
Police had cordoned off the entire building to prevent people from entering its premises. All offices in the entire building were closed.
Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella had issued a Cease and Desist Order on the construction work beside Juanita./TSB
