MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila, Zambales and Bataan residents may have to brace for heavy rains as the state weather bureau on Friday raised a yellow rainfall warning in these areas.

In its 11 a.m advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the yellow rainfall warning was raised due to the current weather situation brought by the southwest monsoon.

A yellow rainfall warning, according to Pagasa, is usually raised when 7.5-15-millimeter of rain is accumulated in a span of an hour, and is expected to persist for the next two hours.

Such warning also means that flooding is possible in flood-prone areas, Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains are expected over Batangas, Rizal, Cavite and Quezon province within the next three hours.

Pagasa earlier said that most parts of the country will experience scattered rains. It is also closely monitoring a low-pressure area in the eastern side of the country.
