Traffic flow rerouted in Marikina

/ 02:10 AM December 21, 2011

To make traveling easier for market goers during the yuletide season, the city government of Marikina has ordered the rerouting of traffic in all roads leading to its public market for a week.

According to the city’s traffic plan dubbed “Oplan Bantay-Palengke Operations,” which will be implemented from December 23 until January 2 next year, traffic will be rerouted in roads around the Marikina public market such as W. Paz and J. P. Rizal Streets and Sumulong Highway.

For the duration of the traffic plan’s effectivity, W. Paz Street will be a one-way street while parking on both sides of J. P. Rizal Street will be allowed.

On Sumulong Highway, a separate lane has been designated for vehicles coming from the market.

The city traffic management and development office said the rerouting was necessary because of the big number of market goers expected in the days leading to December 25 and January 1.
