The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has acquired new assets to beef up its maritime rescue and security operations as well as disaster response operations.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, and PCG Commandant Elson Hermogino on Thursday led the turnover and blessing ceremony of new equipment, including 12 7-meter Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats, 73 rubber boats with outboard motor, 90 units of 4×4 pickup trucks with trailer hitch ball and mount, five fully-equipped ambulances, and seven PCG bus units.

“You will be able to perform your duty better with these equipment,” Lorenzana said.

Hermogino said, “It is that time of the year that the services of the PCG are significantly high. It is our primordial duty to always be ready to respond to calamities, distress calls, and save lives.”
