DIGOS CITY, Philippines – A live and already corroded fragmentation grenade was found sticking out from the ground inside a drainage canal just meters from an elementary school in Kiblawan, Davao del Sur on Monday afternoon.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Kevin King, team leader of the explosives and ordnance disposal team (EOD) said the Mk 2 fragmentation grenade had its fuse already broken but the detonator and explosive are still intact.

Phillip Cesar Amoguis, the school principal, called police when they discovered the grenade, prompting Police Capt. Robert James Carumba, officer-in-charge of the Kiblawan police, to send the EOD team to the area.
