Manila police precinct commander sacked over filthy Bonifacio Shrine
MANILA, Philippines – Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ordered the relief of the station commander of the Lawton Police Precinct on Wednesday after fuming over mounds of human waste in the vicinity of Bonifacio Shrine just across the Manila City Hall.
“Oh, sige. Ipa-relieve niyo na yung police diyan sa Lawton. Diba presinto ito ng Lawton? Oh, relieve na siya. Sabihan niyo na si General Danao (Tell General Danao to relieve the precinct commander),” Moreno said on Facebook live.
The Lawton Police Precinct is headed by Police Lt. Rowel Robles.
Upon seeing the sorry state of the heritage site, Moreno expressed dismay and uttered expletives.
Oooops!
In fact, during his inspection, Moreno accidentally stepped on a mound of human waste.
“Sa likod ni Bonifacio may tae, sa paanan ni Bonifacio may tae, na katabi ng opisina ng alkalde (There’s human waste around the monument of Bonifacio which is right across the mayor’s office).” Moreno lamented.
“Oh ayan nakaapak na nga ako e. Sino swerte? Yayaman! Oh ayan tae! Swerte raw yan, magkakapera ako (Here, I accidentally stepped on one, they say it’s lucky).”
Clearing ops
He also said that he would clear the area behind the Andres Bonifacio Shrine of vendors.
“Itong Andres Bonifacio shrine natin sa tabi ng City Hall puro tae. Pinakamalaking banyo. E ngayon, gigibain na namin yung mga obstruction sa likod (The vicinity of the Bonifacio Shrine is filthy. We will have to demolish obstructions behind it),” he told Manila Police Chief Brigadier General Vicente Danao Jr.
‘Biggest comfort room’
“Ang problema, sakop pala ito ng PCP Lawton. Iparelieve mo na yun. Puro tae, pare. Siguro nakita naming tae kulang-kulang 100, as if pinakamalaking banyo ito. Papalitan mo na, makisuyo nalang,” he added.
While on Facebook live, netizens commented that a number of vagrants and solvent boys staying in the area are responsible for the mess. /gsg
