“The alert is a safety measure taken to prevent any untoward incident from happening when lightnings are prevalent in the immediate area and may endanger personnel, passengers and even flight operations,” MIAA explained.

But since the red lightning alert has been lowered to yellow, normal flight operations at Manila’s main gateway has returned to normal.

“We seek the understanding of the air riding public in this regard. Safety of passengers, flights and airport workers remain paramount in airport operations,” MIAA said.   (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
