Davao court bars Kapa officers from leaving PH
Update
MANILA, Philippines — The Davao Regional Trial Court Branch 16 has barred officials of the Kapa-Community Ministry International Inc. (Kapa) from leaving the country.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra confirmed that the Davao Court issued a precautionary hold departure order (PHDO) against eight officers and board members of Kapa.
Covered by the PHDO are Joel A. Apolinario, Reyna L. Apolinario, Margie Apolinario Danao, Catherine Evangelista, Rene Catubigan, Marisol M. Diaz, Adelfa Fernandico and Moises Mopia.
The DOJ made the request for a PHDO after the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a criminal complaint against Kapa officers.
A PHDO is a written court order directing the Bureau of Immigration to prevent any attempt to leave the country by a person suspected of a crime. It is punishable by a minimum penalty of at least six years and one day. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
