Duterte retains lower tariffs on select poultry products
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has issued an executive order (EO) retaining lower tariff rates on select poultry products.
Duterte signed EO 82 on June 13, maintaining lower tariff on imported agricultural products such as mechanically deboned chicken and turkey meat.
A copy of the executive issuance was shared with the media Monday.

“The present economic condition warrants the continued application of the reduced rate of duties on certain agricultural products to mitigate the impact of high prices of goods,” the order stated.
Under the EO, tariffs on mechanically deboned meat (MDM) will stay at 5 percent and on frozen poultry at 20 percent.
Article continues after this advertisementDuterte issued the order upon the recommendation of the National Economic and Development Board to maintain the tariff rates under EO 23 issued in 2017 for MDM of chicken and turkey and turkey offals.
The EO also extended the lower tariff rates from June 30, 2020 to December 31, 2020. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
