Hit and run driver leaves 2 dead, 3 hurt in Quezon

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – Two pedestrians were killed and three others were injured when they were bumped by a speeding van along the Maharlika Highway in Candelaria town in Quezon province Saturday night, police said.

Report from the Quezon police headquarters said an Isuzu Crosswind Sportivo hit Lito Leynes, 39; Rosalinda Leynes, 63; Angelica Bazar, 18; Clark Kent Leynes, 3; and Tatiana Leynes, 1, while they were crossing the highway in Barangay (village) Masin Norte at about 7 p.m.

The driver of the van sped off after the accident and just left his injured victims.

Rescuers took the victims to the Peter Paul Medical Center at the town center where Lito and Rosalinda died while undergoing treatment.

The report did not specify the relationship of the victims.
