Lacson says party-list system a joke, hits Cardema, Duterte Youth

MANILA, Philippines – “Ronald Cardema and the Duterte Youth party- list are just two of the many reasons why the party list system has become a joke”, Senator Panfilo  Lacson  said  on his Twitter account on  Tuesday.

Cardema is chief of the National Youth Commission (NYC) until he filed for substitution as first nominee of the Duterte Youth party-list.

Malacanang, in a statement over the weekend, said Cardema was deemed resigned from his post  after he filed the petition.

Citing Cardema and the  Duterte Youth  party list situation, Lacson said there is a need  to have a thorough review of  the party-list system in the country.

“Maybe it’s time a thorough review should be undertaken to find out if it still serves the purpose for which its creation was provided in the Constitution,”  the senator said in a text message to reporters.  (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
