Comelec to go after suppliers of faulty VCMs, SD cards after proclamation
MANILA, Philippines—The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will go after the suppliers of defective election materials after proclaiming all the winning senators and party-list groups.
“Tatapusin muna natin ‘yung proklamasyon na ito tapos ‘yung contract review and then of course magtatawag na tayo ng mga suppliers na ‘yan,” Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez told Radyo Inquirer in an interview Wednesday.
The poll body earlier said 961 vote counting machines (VCMs) and 1,253 SD cards encountered problems during Monday’s midterm elections.
During the overseas absentee voting process, the poll body also received reports of blotting marking pens.

Jimenez also lamented the failure by the supplier to deliver quality SD cards.
Article continues after this advertisement“Ang question diyan bakit walang kwenta ‘yung gamit mo? Yung equipment na binigay mo. Kasi kung ‘yung quality nun naging maganda edi sana hindi tayo nagkaproblema,” he said.
Jimenez said the SD cards were supplied by S1, reportedly a sister company of Silicon Valley, while the pens were provided by the Triplex Corporation. (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
