Duterte children proclaimed winners in Davao City
The Davao City Board of Canvassers officially proclaims Sara Duterte-Carpio, Paolo Duterte and Sebastian Duterte as reelected Davao City Mayor, Representative for Davao City’s first district and Davao City Vice Mayor, respectively. DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) sitting as City Board of Canvassers has proclaimed as winners the three Duterte children who won in their respective races in this city.
Former Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte was proclaimed as Representative-elect of the city’s first legislative district on Tuesday night along with reelected Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and Sebastian “Baste” Duterte as the new vice mayor.
The Dutertes did not show up during Tuesday night’s proclamation but were only represented by their representatives.
Paolo garnered 197,024 votes against his opponents, independent candidates Susan Uyanguren, who received 5,135 votes and Rex Labis, who got 2,124 votes.
Duterte-Carpio received 580,058 votes while her lone opponent, security guard Marcelino Marcellones Jr., got 4,270 votes.
Baste, who ran unopposed, garnered 557,769 votes.
Paolo Duterte Paolo, in a Facebook post, thanked the people who catapulted him to the House of Representatives virtually unopposed.
“Sa mga katawhan sa unang distrito sa Davao, dako akong pasalamat sa inyong pagpili kanako isip inyong representante sa Kongreso (To the people of the first district of Davao, I thank you for choosing me as your representative in Congress). I am truly humbled and at the same time honored for your trust and support in me,” he said.
He likewise expressed his gratitude to his campaign volunteers, friends and family who exerted efforts during the campaign period.
“Dako sab akong pasalamat sa mga volunteers, sa akong mga higala, ug sa akong pamilya sa ilang dedikasyon ug kakugi aron iduso ang atong tinguha nga makatabang kita sa kalambuan sa unang distrito sa atong mahal nga siyudad. Makalaom kamo nga ako dili lamang inyong tingog ug kusog sa Kongreso kundili kaabaga usab ni President Rody Duterte aron makab-ot niini ang iyang mga plano ug pangandoy para sa nasud,” he said.
