MANILA, Philippines — Even this early on, Senator Cynthia Villar has ruled out the idea that she would run for the highest post in the Senate.

“Ah hindi,” Villar said when asked over DZMM on Tuesday if she would consider running for Senate President, currently being held by Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.

Villar explained that becoming Senate President would not allow her to retain her present chairmanship of the Senate committees on agriculture and food, and environment and natural resources.

When told that the top post would also allow her to sit in any committee, Villar pointed out that the focus of the Senate leader would be to manage the chamber.

“Managing the Senate is a full-time job. Iba ‘yan. I can do that but I’m not interested in that kind of work,” she said.
