Alvarez leading in Palawan’s gubernatorial race

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — Incumbent Palawan governor Jose Alvarez is on the lead in the provincial gubernatorial race according to official results from the provincial board of canvassers Tuesday 12:53 p.m.

With more than 91.33 percent votes counted, Alvarez has 190,339 votes over Ventura’s 116,734. Three other candidates garnered a total of 13,814.

Based on the latest count, Alvarez’s running mate, Dennis Socrates, is also set to win by a wide margin garnering a total of 225,049 votes against his opponent, Mariano Parangue Sr., having 34,246.

Alvarez and Socrates are facing raps for graft, technical malversation, grave misconduct, and serious dishonesty along with 15 other government officials for alleged irregularities in public funds usage.
