Work resumes in NCR Courts on Wednesday

MANILA, Philippines — Work will resume in all courts in the National Capital Region (NCR) on Wednesday, Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez said.

Outside the NCR, he said work suspension will be left to the discretion of the executive judges.

Earlier, Chief Justice Lucas P. Bersamin suspended work in the NCR and Central Luzon courts to give way for inspection and structural integrity check following the 6.1 magnitude quake that hit Zambales but felt even in Metro Manila.

Marquez has been ordered to inspect the courts while the Chief Justice himself inspected the Supreme Court premises in Manila.

The Court’s engineering team has already completed an initial inspection of all the buildings in the SC compound.

According to the High Court’s Public Information Office, no major and structural damage has been found on any of the buildings and structures.

Still, the court said its PIO will coordinate with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for a more thorough structural assessment of all its buildings. /ee
