Cebu City Science High School tops ICT quiz

Students from 45 public high schools in Metro Cebu showed their knowledge on information and communications technology (ICT) during the Aboitiz Foundation’s 1st ICT quiz show last Dec. 10 at the Benedicto College Gymnasium in Mandaue City.

The quiz show had four rounds—elimination, quarterfinal, semifinal and final. Each round had three sets of questions, with 10 questions for each set.

The team from Cebu City National Science High School emerged the grand champion, followed by Apas Night High School (2nd place), Mandaue City Science High School (3rd place), Pardo National High School (4th place) and Tisa Integrated School (5th place).

The winners received a cash prize, token and sets of multi-media equipment from the Aboitiz Foundation.

FEATURED STORIES

All participating schools have been beneficiaries of ICT projects of Aboitiz Foundation.  Each school sent a team composed of three students.

Aboitiz Foundation executive vice president and managing trustee Augusto Carpio III and Department of Education Region 7 ICT coordinator Maurita Ponce graced the event, together with the teachers and students from the participating schools.

The ICT quiz show aimed to evaluate the impact and usefulness of the donated computers to the beneficiary schools as well as assess their performance and learning in the computer subject.
