MANILA, Philippines—There will be a nationwide court holiday on Wednesday as a sign of support for embattled Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Judges and court employees will be wearing black and will troop to the Supreme Court in the afternoon while the Chief Justice will deliver a statement regarding the impeachment complaint filed against him by the House of Representatives.

“A court holiday is declared for Dec. 14 in solidarity with Chief Justice Corona who will be addressing the nation regarding the impeachment complaint filed against him,” Manila Regional Trial Court Judges Association President Antonio Eugenio said in a text message.

Another Manila RTC Judge Silvino Pampilo said “all judges and court personnel are expected to suspend court sessions and office work for the whole day on Wednesday.”
