Electrical malfunction sparks hotel fire in Manila

MANILA, Philippines  –  An electrical switch malfunction  triggered a fire in a hotel in  Manila on Tuesday night, the city police department said.

The fire started at the fifth floor of Riviera Mansion Hotel along Mabini Street at around 10 p.m.

Firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze less than an hour later.

No casualties or serious injuries were reported.

Damage to property and the cause of the conflagration have yet to be determined.  / gsg
