Duterte extends franchise of broadcast firm
President Rodrigo Duterte has signed a law extending the franchise of the Philippine Broadcasting Corp. (PBC) for another 25 years.
The President signed Republic Act No. 11240 last March 8, a copy of which was released by Malacañang on Tuesday.
The extension of the franchise allows the PBC to construct, install, establish, operate and maintain radio or television broadcasting stations, including digital television systems for another 25 years.

The PBC is required to secure permits and licenses from the National Telecommunications Commission.
In addition, the PBC cannot sell and lease its facilities except to entities with radio or television franchises. —Julie M. Aurelio
