5,000 folk feast on roasted cattle for ‘Kumbira Davaoeño’
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — About 5,000 people lined up for the yearly treat of roasted cattle as the city culminated its 82nd Araw ng Davao on Saturday, March 16.
“Kumbira Davaoeño,” which served 50 roasted cows along Claveria Street here has been a yearly “gift” to the people of Davao from the Filipinong may Puso Foundation, according to Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio.
“This is considered as a blessing to us, Dabawenyos, because not all cities and provinces who celebrate their charter days have something like this,” Duterte-Carpio said.
Apart from the roasted cattle, the foundation also served roasted chicken and distributed 4,900 grocery packs during the celebration.
The mayor came home to join the city’s charter day celebration after leading her party Hugpong ng Pagbabago in a campaign sortie in Luzon.
