2 women try to abduct 2 children in Navotas, Manila arrested

MANILA, Philippines – Authorities foiled the abduction of two children in Navotas and Manila and arrested two suspects, police said Tuesday.

According to the Navotas police, a certain Marites Gatchalian, 46, tried to abduct a four-year old nursery student in Barangay Daanghari.

Initial investigation showed that about 9 a.m., on Monday, the mother of the boy saw Gatchalian leading her son away by the hand.

The mother immediately grabbed the boy away from the woman and sought police assistance.

Gatchalian was then arrested by officers Liberato A Cruz and Michael Pulilan.

In Manila, a certain Sally Casiano was arrested after she allegedly tried to kidnap a 5-year-old child along Solis Street in Tondo, Manila.

The Manila Police Department reported that at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Casiano tried to take the child with her claiming that the child was her niece.

The child was with her mother when the incident happened.

Barangay officials who witnessed the incident immediately apprehended Casiano. /cbb
