MANILA, Philippines — Lawyer and Otso Diretso senatorial candidate Romulo Macalintal went to Mass in Antipolo City to commemorate Ash Wednesday ahead of a campaign sortie.
Macalintal had ashes put on his forehead during Ash Wednesday rites, which mark the start of the 40-day Lenten season for Christians.

Macalintal heard Mass at the St. John Mary Vianney Parish Church before joining a campaign sortie in Rizal with former House Deputy Speaker Erin Tañada who is also running under Otso Diretso.
The Eucharistic celebration was not part of Otso Diretso’s campaign sortie as Macalintal was only spotted by reporters at the church./cbb
