2 Cebu cops nabbed for selling gun
CEBU CITY — Two local policemen were arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly selling a firearm with an expired license. Senior Supt. Royina Garma, Cebu City police director, said PO2 Redzon Baguion asked PO1 Oliver Navarro to sell his .45-caliber gun to an undercover policeman from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group. Baguion of the Fuente police station and Navarro of the city police’s mobile patrol group are facing charges for violating the gun ban. Administrative charges will also be filed against them in the National Police Commission. —NESTLE SEMILLA
Lawyer’s abduction in Nueva Ecija condemned
CABANATUAN CITY — The Integrated Bar of the Philippines in Nueva Ecija has condemned the abduction of one of its members by unidentified men on Friday here. Lawyer Alwyn Mendoza, 38, a resident of Barangay Valdefuente, was driving his pickup truck when he was stopped by armed men on Maharlika Highway at Barangay Bitas. He has been missing since. “We call on the authorities to have a swift resolution on the matter so that we can bring to justice individuals accountable for the perpetration of this barbaric act,” the lawyers’ group said.
