Bam Aquino: 'Vote power' is new People Power

MANILA, Philippines — “Express dissent over the current administration by voting in the upcoming elections.”

This was the call of reelectionist Senator Bam Aquino on Saturday as he said that “Vote Power” is the new “People Power.”

“Alam kong nakakatakot ngayon, pero kailangan nating ipakita ang ating tapang sa pamamagitan ng ating boto,” Aquino said in a statement two days before the anniversary of the People Power revolution.

“I’m hoping come May, iyong lakas ng taumbayan, mapakita ulit,” he added.

Aquino, who is running under the Otso Diretso slate, also admitted that being part of the opposition is “very difficult.”

Aquino nevertheless, noted that someone has to check the works of the government and make them accountable for their actions.

“This is a gargantuan task, but still it ought to be done. And somebody has got to do it,” said Aquino.

He then expressed hope that the public would vote for senators who would “work for the people’s welfare and will uplift lives of Filipino families.”
